The Golf GTI and Golf R are among the most popular performance cars we tune. Their 2.0 TSI engine has a lot in reserve from the factory, and a matched DSG tune makes the most of it. We come to you from our Weston-super-Mare base, across Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, South Wales and parts of Devon and Dorset.

Mk7 GTI (2013–2017)

EA888 2.0 TSI, 220PS and 350Nm; Performance Pack 230PS. Clubsport 265PS (290PS on overboost).

Mk7.5 GTI (2017–2020)

EA888 2.0 TSI, 230PS and 350Nm (Performance), and the TCR at 290PS and 370Nm.

Mk8 GTI (2020 on)

EA888 evo4 2.0 TSI, 245PS and 370Nm; Clubsport 300PS and 400Nm; the later facelift GTI 265PS.

Mk7 and Mk7.5 Golf R (2014–2020)

EA888 2.0 TSI with 4Motion, 300PS and 380–400Nm.

Mk8 Golf R (2021 on)

EA888 evo4 2.0 TSI with 4Motion, 320PS and 420Nm; later cars 333PS.

What a remap does on the Golf GTI and R

The 2.0 TSI is turbocharged with boost under software control, so a Stage 1 calibration adds a large amount of torque through the mid-range. A Mk7 GTI we tuned went from 230hp to 300hp, and our Mk8 GTI with a gearbox map from 245hp to 327hp.

We keep the factory protections in place and calibrate for clean, repeatable power, so the car stays as easy to live with as it was from new. Stage 2 is for cars with supporting hardware such as an intake, intercooler and downpipe.

We also tune the diesel Golf GTD and the TDI Golfs, where a remap brings stronger mid-range torque and relaxed motorway pace.

Gearbox tuning

DSG cars benefit from a matched gearbox tune: the 6-speed DQ250 on many Mk7s and the 7-speed DQ381 on later cars. It raises the gearbox's torque limits, sharpens shifts and improves launch behaviour. Manual cars are tuned with clutch condition in mind.

Every appointment starts with a diagnostic scan and a check of the vehicle's condition. If something needs attention first, we tell you before any tuning is done. Installed software is covered by our lifetime software warranty, and tuning is a modification, so remember to tell your insurer.

Common questions

How much power can a Golf GTI gain from a remap?

It depends on the generation and the car's condition. A Mk7 GTI we tuned went from 230hp to 300hp at Stage 1, and our Mk8 GTI with a gearbox map from 245hp to 327hp. We confirm realistic figures for your car before quoting.

Can you tune the DSG gearbox?

Yes. We tune the 6-speed and 7-speed DSG to match the engine calibration, with higher torque limits and sharper shifts.

Will a Stage 1 remap hurt the clutch on a manual GTI?

A healthy clutch usually copes with Stage 1, but a worn one may slip under the extra torque. We check it first and tell you if it needs attention.

Do you tune the Golf R's 4Motion models?

Yes. The Golf R's four-wheel drive puts the extra torque down well, and we calibrate engine and DSG together.
