BMWs are where MTechTuning started, and they are still what we specialise in. We tune BMWs from the E-series to brand new, at your home or workplace.

Where we started

MTechTuning began with BMWs, and years of working on them means we know the engines, ECUs and ZF gearboxes inside out. That experience goes into every calibration, whether the car is a daily 320d or an M car.

Every BMW gets a diagnostic scan first. If something needs attention, we tell you before any tuning happens, and we save the original software so the car can be returned to standard if needed.

From E-series to G-series

Older BMWs are just as welcome as new ones. We tune E-series cars such as the E46, E60/E61 5 Series, E8x 1 Series, E9x 3 Series and E70 X5, alongside F-series and G-series models.

E-series engines respond well to a careful calibration: the N47 and M57 diesels gain strong mid-range torque, the N54 and N55 turbo petrols are well known for what they can do, and naturally aspirated engines such as the N52 and the E92 M3's S65 V8 can be sharpened too.

Newer BMWs, unlocked on site

BMWs built after June 2020 use Bosch MG1 petrol and MD1 diesel ECUs with protection that blocks normal tuning. We unlock them on the day, ready for our calibrations, gearbox tuning or third-party apps such as MHD.

ZF automatic gearbox tuning

Most modern BMWs use a ZF 8-speed automatic, and many E-series cars the ZF 6-speed; we tune both. A matched gearbox tune raises torque limits to suit the engine calibration and can sharpen shifts and response in Comfort and Sport. We will tell you when it is worthwhile and when the standard gearbox software is already suitable.
