VW Transporter tuning

VW Transporter remapping in Bristol, Somerset and South Wales

From working T5s to camper-converted T6.1s, the Transporter is one of the vans we tune most. A remap makes it stronger and more relaxed, whether it is carrying tools or a pop-top roof. We come to you from our Weston-super-Mare base, across Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, South Wales and parts of Devon and Dorset.

What a remap does on a Transporter

Transporters respond very well to a Stage 1 remap, especially the lower-powered versions, which often share hardware with the higher outputs. Transporters we have tuned include a T5 2.5 at Stage 2 from 130hp to 190hp and a 2.0 TDI from 180hp to 205hp.

Camper conversions are heavy, and a remap makes them far more relaxed on hills and motorways. Working vans gain useful low-down torque for loaded driving, and economy-focused calibration is available.

Gearbox tuning

Many T5.1, T6 and T6.1 vans use the 7-speed DSG (DQ500). A matched DSG tune raises the gearbox's torque limits and smooths shifts, which we recommend with any engine tune on these vans.

Tuned for working vans

A van remap is about useful low- and mid-range torque, not a headline number. Loaded vans pull more easily, hold gears for longer on hills and motorways, and need fewer downchanges, which is where economy-focused calibration can help with fuel use, depending on routes and driving style.

We tune at your workplace or home address, and can do several vans in one visit. A remap does not change the van's payload, towing or gross weight limits.

Examples of our VW Transporter work

Before any work

Every appointment starts with a diagnostic scan and a check of the vehicle's condition. If something needs attention first, we tell you before any tuning is done. Installed software is covered by our lifetime software warranty, and tuning is a modification, so remember to tell your insurer.

Common questions

Is a remap worth it on a camper Transporter?

Yes. Conversions add a lot of weight, and the extra low-down torque makes hills, overtakes and motorway driving much more relaxed.

Can you tune the Transporter's DSG gearbox?

Yes. We tune the 7-speed DSG to match the engine calibration, with higher torque limits and smoother shifts.

Can a lower-powered T6 be tuned to the higher outputs?

Often there is a large gain on lower-powered versions, but it depends on the exact hardware. We confirm what your van can safely achieve before quoting.
