Modern automatic gearboxes have their own control software. When engine torque increases, the transmission calibration can become the limiting factor. A matched gearbox tune lets both sides of the drivetrain work as one package.

Enhanced torque limiting

Factory software often limits torque to protect components. We optimise torque management so the gearbox handles the extra power safely and smoothly.

Improved shift speeds

Faster, smoother gear changes reduce lag and improve responsiveness for a more engaging, refined drive.

RPM limits and shift points

Shift points are adjusted to suit the engine's power band, improving acceleration and consistency.

Launch control

Enabled on supported models for consistent, controlled acceleration from a standstill, with cleaner launches and better traction.

Full manual mode

Many gearboxes still force upshifts or kick-downs in manual mode. Where supported, we can prevent unwanted gear changes and give you full control.

Gear shown on the dash

Where supported, the selected gear can be displayed in every driving mode (for example D3, S4 or M4), not just manual.

BMW ZF and dual-clutch specialists

We regularly tune ZF 6HP and 8HP gearboxes, BMW DCT units and supported DSG/S tronic applications. Compatibility and available features vary by transmission software version, so we confirm the exact option before quoting.

Not every car needs it

We will not sell a gearbox tune where it adds no useful benefit. For some vehicles a well-calibrated engine remap is all that is required; for others, particularly higher-torque BMW and VAG models, the combined result is worthwhile.

Is gearbox remapping safe?

Yes. Our gearbox calibrations are developed with reliability as the priority and operate within safe limits, with diagnostics carried out before and after tuning.

Do I need an ECU remap as well?

No. Gearbox remapping can be carried out on its own, although it works best paired with an ECU remap so the engine and gearbox work together efficiently.

Will gearbox remapping improve shift quality?

Yes. Most customers notice faster, smoother and more responsive gear changes, particularly in sport and manual modes.

How long does a gearbox remap take?

Most gearbox remaps take between one and two hours, depending on the vehicle and transmission type.

Will gearbox remapping increase wear or shorten gearbox life?

Done correctly, no. Our calibrations optimise torque management and shift behaviour to protect the transmission rather than pushing components beyond safe limits.
