BMW X1 18d Stage 1 with DPF, EGR & Swirl Flap Solutions

This BMW X1 18d went from 136hp and 300Nm to 180hp and 400Nm with our Stage 1 ECU calibration, a gain of 44hp and 100Nm, after we got it back on the road from a blocked DPF, EGR faults and swirl flap problems.

Off the road with DPF, EGR and swirl flap faults

The car had been parked up with a blocked DPF, EGR system faults and intake manifold swirl flap issues. We diagnosed each fault with dealer-level equipment, then installed our software solutions for the DPF, EGR and swirl flaps alongside the Stage 1 calibration, all in one mobile visit.

Why tune an X1 18d?

In standard form the X1 18d can feel sluggish, especially when joining a motorway or overtaking. Stage 1 adds a big lift in mid-range torque, sharper throttle response and stronger acceleration through the rev range, which makes it a far more capable everyday car.

ECU and tools

This X1 uses a Bosch EDC17C50 ECU and was calibrated through the diagnostic port with AutoTuner, so the ECU did not need to come out. Dealer-level diagnostics were run before and after the work.
