ECU unlock by post

Send us your ECU, we'll unlock it

Not within our mobile area? Send your ECU to us. We unlock supported Bosch MG1 and MD1 ECUs on the bench and get them back to you quickly, at a fair price. Once it is unlocked, the choice of tuning is yours: our calibration, another tuner, or a third-party app such as MHD.

Which ECUs we unlock

Newer BMWs, especially those built after June 2020, and the Toyota GR Supra use Bosch MG1 petrol and MD1 diesel ECUs with protection that stops normal tuning. We unlock supported versions on the bench, nationwide by post.

Support depends on the ECU's hardware and software version, so we confirm it from your registration, or the part and software numbers on the ECU label, before you send anything.

How it works

1. Get in touch

Send us your registration and, if you have them, the ECU part and software numbers. We confirm it is supported, give you a price and send posting instructions.

2. Remove and pack the ECU

Remove the ECU (or have a garage do it), place it in an anti-static bag and pack it well in a padded box. Use a tracked, insured service.

3. We unlock it

We save the original software, carry out the unlock on the bench and check the ECU before it goes back.

4. Back to you, quickly

Your ECU is returned by tracked delivery with a short turnaround, ready to refit and tune however you choose.

Your car, your choice of tuner

An unlocked ECU is not tied to us. You can use a third-party app such as MHD, go to another tuner, or have us write one of our own calibrations. If you are within our area, we can also tune the car at your home or workplace.

  • Use third-party apps such as MHD
  • Have another tuner of your choice tune it
  • Choose our Stage 1 or Stage 2 calibration
  • Original software saved before the unlock

Live near us? We can do it on site

Within our mobile area we unlock BMWs at your home or workplace through the OBD port, with no ECU removal at all.

Common questions

Do I need to remove the ECU myself?

Yes, the ECU needs to come out of the car to be posted. Many owners do this themselves; otherwise a local garage can remove and refit it. Ask us if you are unsure how to remove yours.

How long does the unlock take?

We turn ECUs around quickly and confirm the timescale when you get in touch, so you know when to expect it back before you post it.

How much does it cost?

The price is fair and confirmed before you send anything, once we know which ECU you have.

Can I use MHD or another tuner afterwards?

Yes. Once unlocked, the ECU can be tuned with third-party apps such as MHD, by another tuner, or by us.

Is my original software kept?

Yes. We save the original software before unlocking.

How should I post it?

Use an anti-static bag inside a well-padded box, and send it with a tracked, insured service. We send it back the same way.
