Another newer BMW unlocked and tuned in a single appointment — this time a BMW G20 320i equipped with the B48 2.0-litre turbocharged engine.

The customer wanted more performance from the 320i while retaining the smooth, refined drivability that makes the G20 such a good everyday car. Alongside our Stage 1 ECU calibration, we completed a gearbox tune and unlocked the newer Bosch MG1CS201 ECU at the customer's location.

Increase: +76 hp / +130 Nm



The B48 engine responds particularly well to software calibration. With Stage 1 installed, this 320i gains considerably stronger mid-range torque, improved throttle response and much better acceleration throughout the rev range.

Despite the significant increase in performance, the calibration is designed to retain smooth, OEM-like drivability for normal everyday use.

Same-Day Bosch MG1CS201 ECU Unlock

This G20 was fitted with the newer locked Bosch MG1CS201 ECU, meaning it required unlocking before the vehicle could be tuned.

Traditionally, unlocking some newer BMW ECUs can involve removing the ECU and sending it away, leaving the vehicle waiting for its return before tuning can be completed.

With our same-day mobile BMW ECU unlocking service, we can unlock supported MG1 and MD1 ECUs during the same appointment.

For this 320i, we:

• Removed the ECU from the vehicle
• Bench unlocked the Bosch MG1CS201
• Reinstalled and verified the ECU
• Completed the Stage 1 calibration
• Programmed the gearbox calibration
• Carried out final diagnostic checks

Everything was completed at the customer's location in one appointment — no ECU mail-in, no days waiting and no second tuning appointment.

Gearbox Tune

Alongside the engine calibration, we also installed a gearbox tune to complement the additional power and torque.

The gearbox calibration works alongside the Stage 1 engine software to improve the overall response and driving experience, making better use of the additional performance available from the tuned B48 engine.

M-Lite Burble Activation

This particular 320i had already been fitted with an aftermarket exhaust system.

This allowed us to add our M-Lite burble activation, giving the car some additional exhaust character without going for an unnecessarily aggressive pops and bangs setup.

The result is a more sporting exhaust note that suits the character of the car while remaining suitable for regular road use.
