8V S3 (2013–2020)

EA888 2.0 TFSI with quattro, 300PS and 380Nm; 310PS and 400Nm after the 2016 facelift.

8Y S3 (2020 on)

EA888 evo4 2.0 TFSI, 310PS and 400Nm; 333PS and 420Nm from the 2024 update.

8V RS3 (2015–2020)

2.5 TFSI five-cylinder, 367PS and 465Nm, then 400PS and 480Nm from 2017.

8Y RS3 (2021 on)

2.5 TFSI five-cylinder, 400PS and 500Nm.

What a remap does on the S3 and RS3

The S3 shares its engine family with the Golf R, so a Stage 1 calibration adds strong mid-range torque and sharper throttle response. The RS3's five-cylinder has even more headroom, and responds especially well with supporting hardware at Stage 2.

On both cars we calibrate for consistent, repeatable power and keep the factory protection strategies in place. Newer ECUs can need extra steps before tuning, which we confirm from your registration.

Gearbox tuning

The S tronic gearbox (7-speed, DQ381 on the S3 and DQ500 on the RS3) limits torque from the factory. A matched gearbox tune raises those limits, quickens shifts and improves launch control, and we recommend it alongside any engine tune on these cars.

Before any work

Every appointment starts with a diagnostic scan and a check of the vehicle's condition. If something needs attention first, we tell you before any tuning is done. Installed software is covered by our lifetime software warranty, and tuning is a modification, so remember to tell your insurer.

Common questions

Is the S3 the same engine as the Golf R?

They share the EA888 2.0 TFSI family and the same basic layout with four-wheel drive, so they respond to tuning in a similar way. We still check your exact engine and software before quoting.

Can you tune the RS3's S tronic gearbox?

Yes. A gearbox tune raises the factory torque limits and sharpens shifts, and we recommend it with any RS3 engine tune.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on an RS3?

Stage 1 suits a standard car. Stage 2 is calibrated around supporting hardware such as an intake, intercooler and downpipe, and is not right for every car. We confirm the hardware first.
