From the naturally aspirated E92 330i to the turbocharged B48 in the G20, the petrol 3 Series is a popular car to tune, and the four-cylinder turbos gain the most. BMW 320i and 330i generations we tune

Factory figures vary by market and year. We confirm your car's exact ECU and software before quoting.

E90/E92 330i (2005–2012)

N52/N53 3.0 naturally aspirated straight-six, 258–272hp and around 320Nm.

F30 320i, 328i and 330i (2012–2019)

N20 then B48 2.0 turbo: 320i 184hp, 328i 245hp, 330i 252hp.

G20 320i and 330i (2019 on)

B48 2.0 turbo: 320i 184hp and 300Nm, 330i 258hp and 400Nm. Most need an ECU unlock first.

Big gains from the four-cylinder turbos

The B48 in the 320i is the same basic engine as the 330i, so the 320i makes particularly large gains: 320is we have tuned went from 184hp to 260hp at Stage 1 and 280hp at Stage 2.

The naturally aspirated E92 330i gains less, as there is no turbo to work with; an E92 330i we tuned went from 272hp to 292hp.

Gearbox tuning

Automatic cars use the ZF 6-speed (E-series) or 8-speed, which we map for sharper shifts and higher torque limits.

Why does the 320i gain so much?

It shares the B48 engine with the 330i but is detuned in factory software, so there is plenty to release.

Does the G20 320i need an ECU unlock?

Most do. We unlock it on site, as we did on a G20 320i.
