The results

This BMW 320d now makes 220hp, up from 184hp as standard: 36hp more, an increase of around 20%.

Torque rose from 380Nm to 440Nm (+60Nm), which is what you feel most in everyday driving: stronger pull from low revs and easier overtaking.

What the work involved

Stage 1 is calibrated for a car with standard hardware. By refining boost, fuelling, timing and torque requests within the engine's safe limits, it delivers stronger, smoother acceleration and sharper throttle response.

We also tuned the gearbox, raising its torque limits to match the engine and making shifts quicker and more decisive, particularly in Sport and manual modes.

The vehicle had an EGR problem causing warning messages or reduced performance. We diagnosed the fault with dealer-level equipment and carried out a solution to get it back on the road.
