BMW E90 M3 Cold Start Solution

Mobile BMW work by MTechTuning, with dealer-level diagnostics before and after.

BMW E90 M3 Cold Start Solution

This BMW E90 M3 came to us for a cold start solution after an aftermarket exhaust was fitted. The factory routine raises the revs on start-up, which made the S65 V8 particularly loud with the new exhaust.

Why the cold start was so loud

The S65 4.0 naturally aspirated V8 is known for its sound. From cold, the engine idles high for a while to warm the catalysts, and with a freer-flowing aftermarket exhaust that high idle becomes far louder than standard, which is not ideal early in the morning or in a quiet street.

What was included

  • Cold start solution
  • Factory performance calibration retained
  • Original ECU file securely backed up
  • Dealer-level diagnostics before and after programming

ECU and tools

This M3 runs a Siemens MSS60 ECU and was calibrated with AutoTuner through the diagnostic (OBD) port. The original software was read and saved before any changes were made.

Does a cold start solution change the M3's performance?

No. The engine settles into a quieter, controlled idle straight after start-up, and the power and V8 character are left as BMW intended. We are fully mobile across Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset and South Wales.

  • Dealer-level diagnostics before and after
  • Fully mobile, at home or work
  • Lifetime software warranty and support
  • 14-day money-back guarantee
