We unlocked the Bosch MG1 ECU on this G-series BMW M240i in-house at the customer's address, so the owner could flash their own MHD tune. No ECU mail-in, no days waiting and no second appointment.
An unlock-only job
The owner wanted to use MHD for their own tuning, so MTechTuning carried out the ECU unlock and verification only. Newer BMWs with the Bosch MG1 ECU are locked from the factory, and that protection has to be removed before any tuning software can be written.
How the unlock was carried out
- Full diagnostics and vehicle health check
- MG1 ECU type verified through the OBD port
- ECU removed and unlocked on the bench
- ECU refitted and verified through OBD as unlocked and ready for tuning
Why have the ECU unlocked on site?
Many unlock services need the ECU posted away, which can leave the car off the road for days. We remove, unlock and refit the ECU during one visit, and the car is ready for MHD or our own calibration straight away.
Can you unlock my BMW if I want to tune it myself?
Yes. Our BMW MG1 and MD1 unlock is available on its own, without buying a calibration from us. Send us your registration and we will check the ECU type and compatibility before booking. We cover Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset and South Wales.
